The Association was formed in 1965 after the breakup of the eleven-man electric folk group called The Men, the first 'folk rock' group. The six-man Association began performing throughout Southern California and became one of the most popular and successful bands to come out of the sixties.

Leftwich's debut album, the Ian Grimble-produced Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, was released in July 2011. The Fly called it "a majestic debut" "whilst The Sunday Times cited Leftwich as "a serious new talent". The Skinny described it as "occasionally a bit O.C. soundtrack.

Enslaved was formed in June 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson when they were 13 and 17 years old, respectively.The band name was inspired by an Immortal demo track, "Enslaved in Rot."
